What was your life like growing up?
I grew up in a very small town on the Ohio River in Kentucky. I had what I would consider a fantastic childhood. I lived at home with both of my amazing parents; I got to spend a lot of time with my grandparents. I grew up majority of my life being the youngest child to an older sister Bethany, until about the age of 14 when God blessed our family by adding an addition to our family, my little sister Bryanna. I grew up spending a lot of time with my family with vacations to the beach, traveling to clogging competitions, and playing golf in high school. I would go shopping on Saturdays with my mom and sister, and we attended church every Sunday. College came and life became a bit more difficult. My father’s job got transferred to Southern Georgia which would force me into making a big decision as an adult, moving away from the place where I grew up. I knew that God must have a plan for me, even though I wasn’t sure what it was. Starting over was hard, but I soon made new friends, gained a little independence and met my soon to be husband who was going to school at Georgia Southern University.
How did you come to know the Lord?
I grew up going to church every Sunday. I was baptized as a baby, and when I got older and could make my own choice I went through confirmation. I was very involved in my church’s youth group. I have always been a believer and never really questioned God’s existence. However there were many times throughout my life that I stumbled off the path, especially after leaving the nest. The last several years God has put many trials in front of me, especially dealing with the Army and my marriage. However with God’s grace and mercy I have managed to overcome them all.
How do you spend your time currently?
Currently, I am working at Legends Bank here in Clarksville. When I am not working, I enjoy landscaping and yard work, decorating, crafts, and exploring this new state the Army has brought us to. I am so thankful and blessed that God brought me to the Clarksville area and Grace Community Church where I was introduced to the fantastic women in my community group and the Lantern.
Thanks Brittany!! Be sure to come back next week for another biography from another military wife in the Lantern Leadership! You can always go back and read the past weeks' right here. We will see you at our next meeting on June 10th!
