What was your life like growing up?
Like many others, I grew up in a single parent household. My mother and father divorced before I was in kindergarten.
My Mom at times was forced to work two jobs just to put food on the table. We didn’t have much but she tried her hardest to provide for my brother and I. We never had new clothes or the latest toys. I wore hand me downs until I started working after school at 14. I learned to be pretty self sufficient at an early age.
After high school I joined the National Guard as a way to help pay for college. I was in for 6 years and had an awesome opportunity to serve in Germany during Operation Enduring Freedom.
How did you come to know the Lord?
I was raised Roman Catholic but we stopped attending services when I was about nine years old. I never gave God much thought growing up. It wasn’t until I met my husband, who is strong in his beliefs, that I started to ask questions.
After his last deployment we struggled a bit finding our way back to one another. We started attending church services together and everything began to fall into place.
I trust The Lord will guide me continually.
How do you spend your time currently?
Currently I’m consumed by all things baby, magazines, books, websites, and shopping. I also enjoy working out, cooking and spending time with my husband and our cat. We like to watch movies and play board games. We also love to travel. We hope to take a nice vacation this year and also head home to Pennsylvania to visit with family and friends.
I love going to church, my community group and of course The Lantern!
